Industry News Broadway Media Acquires BodyMics

The move expands the company's audiovisual Stage Gear division, allowing rentals on a plug-and-play mic system to theatres.

Theatrical technology company Broadway Media has acquired BodyMics, allowing them to add microphone system rentals to their Stage Gear audiovisual division.

BodyMics was founded by Rod Reilly in 2007, offering theatres the ability to rent a pre-racked wireless mic system that includes wireless receivers, power supply, antennas, and professional grade microphones. Their stock includes state-of-the-art devices from major audio brands, including Shure, Sennheiser, Lectrosonics, and Creative Audio Technology.

"Producing community and school theatre involves inherent technical and budgetary challenges," says Broadway Media President Quentin Sanford in a statement. "Very few, if any, have budgets on par with Broadway producers. BodyMics is the type of creative thinking that will especially benefit our customers. The acquisition of BodyMics is a significant milestone for Broadway Media. We’re thrilled to carry forward Rod’s legacy of innovation and service."

“For nearly two decades, local theatre producers staging Broadway's most technically demanding new musicals have found invaluable support in BodyMics Wireless Systems," adds Reilly. "Integrating BodyMics into Stage Gear will enhance Broadway Media’s ability to support its nationwide theatre community."

Broadway Media will begin taking orders for BodyMics systems February 15. Their Stage Gear division also offers professional grade projectors, with the company separately offering digital backdrop rentals. Visit BroadwayMedia.com.
