Tony winner Brandon Uranowitz (Leopoldstadt, Burn This) will star as Jon in the newest production of Pulitzer Prize winner Jonathan Larson’s tick, tick…BOOM! at Washington D.C.'s Kennedy Center.
Directed by Emmy and Tony winner Neil Patrick Harris, the production will also feature Tony nominee Denée Benton (Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1912, The Gilded Age) as Susan and Tony nominee Grey Henson (Shucked, Mean Girls) as Michael.
tick, tick…BOOM! will play the Center’s Eisenhower Theater January 26 through February 4, 2024. The 11-performance run will mark the beginning of programming at the Center for 2024.
The musical is semi-autobiographical, depicting a thinly veiled Larson as he works through questions about life, death, and the necessity of art. Recently adapted for the screen by Lin-Manuel Miranda with Andrew Garfield in the starring role, this new production of tick, tick…BOOM! will feature new orchestrations and vocal arrangements, and will be expanded from the traditional trio to feature a small ensemble cast, to be announced at a later date.
The Kennedy Center production will feature choreography by Paul McGill, musical supervision by Stephen Oremus, music direction by Ben Cohn, scenic and projection design by Paul Tate dePoo III, video and projection design by Nathan Scheuer, costume design by Andrea Hood, lighting design by Cory Pattak, and sound design by Haley Parcher.
Michael Passaro will serve as the production stage manager, Matt DiCarlo will serve as associate director, and Garret Healy will serve as associate music director. Emilio Ramos will be the associate choreographer. Casting is by Geoff Josselson and Katja Zarolinski of JZ Casting.
The production is produced by Broadway Center Stage Artistic Director and Kennedy Center Vice President and Executive Producer of Theater Jeffrey Finn, and will feature a band of musicians from the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra.
