Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Boy George will return to the cast of Broadway's Moulin Rouge! The Musical next year.
The famed artist will again step into the role of Harold Zidler—the part created by Tony winner Danny Burstein—March 18–May 25, 2025, at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre. He first played the role earlier this year in a limited engagement that began February 6 and continued through May 12. (For the upcoming engagement, Boy George will not play Tuesday evening performances beginning March 25.)
Born George O'Dowd in 1961, Boy George rose to fame as the lead singer of the iconic band Culture Club, going on to achieve seven U.K. Top 10 singles and nine Top 10 singles in the U.S., including “Karma Chameleon” and “Do You Really Want to Hurt Me.” He made his Broadway debut in 2003, co-writing and starring in the musical Taboo, which had also been seen in London. Boy George received a 2004 Tony nomination for Best Original Score.
The Broadway company currently features Robert Petkoff as Harold Zidler (temporarily replacing Austin Durant through January 5, 2025), John Cardoza as
Christian, Solea Pfeiffer as Satine, Pepe Muñoz as Santiago, André Ward
as Toulouse-Lautrec, David Harris as
The Duke of Monroth, and Sophie Carmen-Jones as Nini. Hailee Kaleem

story takes place at Paris' famed Moulin Rouge and follows the tragic

The production's music team includes musical supervisor Justin Levine, music producer Matt Stine, and music director Julie McBride. Orchestrations are by Levine, Stine, Katie Kresek, and Charlie Rosen, with dance arrangements by Levine and Stine.
Also on the creative team are scenic designer Derek McLane, costume designer Catherine Zuber, lighting designer Justin Townsend, sound designer Peter Hylenski, hair designer David Brian Brown, and makeup designer Sarah Cimino, with creative services by Luhrmann and Catherine Martin.
