Billy Elliot: The Musical ends an 11-year West End run April 9, but is now on a U.K tour
The Elton John show will shutter after some 4,600 performances, during which it has been seen by more than 5.25 million people. It is also currently on a U.K tour that returns the show to is native Sunderland in the North East of England with a run at Sunderland Empire from April 6-30.
Further touring dates in Bradford, Cardiff, Dublin, Edinburgh, Bristol, Manchester, Southampton and Birmingham have also been announced.
The final West End performance will be a specially staged version, featuring the entire roster of children stars and ensembles. Director Stephen Daldry has told the Daily Mail newspaper, that because “there are four Billys, four Michaels — four of everything concerning the children [who usually alternate performances in their roles] — we thought everyone should be in the last show. All the boys and girls will share the roles on the last night.”
