News Benjamin Scheuer's One-Man Show The Lion Begins Tour Today The Lion, Benjamin Scheuer's acclaimed autobiographical coming-of-age musical, begins a country-wide tour Aug. 26 at the Merrimack Repertory Theatre in Lowell, MA.

It will continue performances there through Sept. 20. 

The one-man song cycle will also play the Milwaukee Repertory Theater in Wisconsin Sept. 30-Nov. 8; the Geva Theatre Center in Rochester, NY, Nov. 11-22; the Long Wharf Theatre in New Haven, CT, Jan. 6, 2016-Feb. 7; Arena Stage in Washington, D.C., Feb. 26-April 10; and City Theatre Company in Pittsburgh, PA, May 12-June 5.

The Lion previously played a limited run at the Lynn Redgrave Theater at Culture Project that concluded March 29.

"I am thrilled to be able to bring Benjamin's heartfelt story to cities across the country and for a national audience to hear and experience his exceptional talent as a musical storyteller," producer Eva Price said in a previous statement.

The Lion opened Feb. 8 at the Lynn Redgrave Theater following previews that began Feb. 3. Sean Daniels, who helmed the earlier MTC production, again directed. Following its run at City Center, The Lion played the St. James Theatre in London.

"Artists like Benjamin come along once or twice in a generation, so it is an honor to share this joyful new musical with New Yorkers looking to be inspired by this uplifting and extraordinary story."

The Lion received the 2015 Theatre World Award as well as the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Solo Show.

Scheuer is a 2013 ASCAP Cole Porter Songwriting Award winner. His work has been featured at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival (2013 Musical Theatre Network Award for Best Lyrics); The St. James Theatre, London; The Jermyn Street Theatre, London; and Lincoln Center. He leads the band Escapist Papers.
