Barrington Stage Company has announced that its 2025 season will include a new production of Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe’s Camelot. Performances will begin June 25, 2025.

BSC Artistic Director Alan Paul will direct the production, which will be based on his 2018 staging for Washington, D.C.'s Shakespeare Theatre Company. 

“In a world where division outweighs unity, Camelot remains an eternal reminder of what we attain when we aspire to common ideals of justice, honor, and hope," Paul said in a statement. "In addition to the compelling love triangle at the center of this classic musical, Lerner and Loewe also explored the concept of democracy. So, this production is more than a revival of an Arthurian legend—it's an opportunity to imagine a better world where ideals of community, integrity, and compassion rise above the hurts of the moment. I feel that is the kind of inspiration we all need.”

With a book and lyrics by Lerner and music by Loewe, Camelot initially opened on Broadway in 1960. Based on T.H. White's The Once and Future King, the musical journeys into the realm of noble knights, mystical lands, and the legendary King Arthur. The original production received four Tony Awards, and ran until 1963. Lincoln Center Theater staged a reimagined Broadway revival in 2023, with Andrew Burnap, Phillipa Soo, and Jordan Donica leading the company. 

Barrington's production is being licensed by Music Theatre International.
