Bardy Bunch Musical Becomes Third Early Closure in Chicago | Playbill

News Bardy Bunch Musical Becomes Third Early Closure in Chicago The musical parody, which was seen Off-Broadway, becomes the third show to close early in the Chicago scene.

The Bardy Bunch: The War of the Families Partridge and Brady, a musical parody by Stephen Garvey that was seen Off-Broadway in 2014, will end its run October 23—a month short of its anticipated November 27 end date. The musical becomes the third to close early in the last few weeks in Chicago.

Though an official statement from producers of the musical was not made available, a press representative for the production confirmed that the run was cut short because sales were not as strong as anticipated.

The Bardy Bunch closure comes on the heels of two other productions ending their runs early in Chicago. Stageworks Media and TROIKA Entertainment's national touring production of Cheers Live On Stage, which was playing the Broadway Playhouse in Chicago, was to run through October 23. The Chicago Sun Times reported that Cheers closed October 9, and refunds are available for patrons who had tickets for performances after that date.

Less than a month before Cheers’ closure, the world-premiere production of the pop rock musical Helldrivers of Daytona, which opened September 12 at The Royal George Theatre in Chicago, canceled the remainder of its run. With only a few performances behind them, producers announced that Helldrivers canceled its run due to negative critical response.

The Bardy Bunch, which features Annie Watkins reprising her Off-Broadway performance as Jan, plays Chicago’s Mercury Theatre. For more information, visit TheBardyBunch.com.
