Original Kinky Boots ensemble member Andy Kelso will return to the Tony-winning musical at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre January 11.

Kelso, who first played Charlie Price in January 2014, will again step into the role through the show’s final performance on April 7.

"I am beyond excited to be dusting off my 6-inch heels and strutting them back to the Al Hirschfeld,” Kelso said in a statement. “Kinky Boots has been a monumental chapter in my life. Everyone and everything associated with it holds such a special place in my heart full of the most wonderful memories and I can't wait to make some more! It is truly an honor to play this role and be a part of this show’s legacy. Let’s make boots… again! "

Kelso succeeds U.K. pop star Conor Maynard, who plays his final performance January 10. Kelso also begins performances the same day that Callum Francis, star of the U.K. and Australian tours of Kinky Boots, makes his Broadway debut as Lola. Francis, who will play the role through March 17, succeeds J. Harrison Ghee, who departs the show January 10, but is set to return to the role March 19 through the show’s final performance.

As recently announced, Tiki Barber, a former American Football running back who played for the New York Giants for ten seasons, will take over the role of Don January 21–March 3.


The winner of six 2013 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Kinky Boots features a Tony-winning score by Cyndi Lauper, a book by Tony winner Harvey Fierstein, and direction and choreography by Tony Award-winner Jerry Mitchell.

The current Broadway cast also includes Carrie St. Louis as Lauren, Daniel Stewart Sherman, Caroline Bowman, Marcus Neville, James Delisco Beeks, Kevin Smith Kirkwood, Ian Gallagher Fitzgerald, Fred Odgaard, Kyle Post, Joey Taranto, Corey Mach, Natalie Joy Johnson, Jennifer Perry, Adinah Alexander, Eugene Barry-Hill, Stephen Berger, Damien Brett, Justin Colombo, Alfred Dalpino, Holly Davis, Stephane Duret, Mia Gentile, Blair Goldberg, Cooper Lantz, John Jeffrey Martin, Julia McLellan, Michael Milkanin, Connor Mills, Christian Mullins, Nathan Peck, and Eric Walker, Jr.
