Disney’s Aladdin has been enchanting audiences on Broadway for nearly a decade. March 20, 2024 marks the production’s 10th anniversary, which calls for a shining, shimmering, splendid celebration. To commemorate 10 years of Arabian nights, flying carpets, and magic lamps on Broadway, we’ve compiled photos of the production’s stars over the years.
Based on the beloved animated film, Aladdin features music by Alan Menken; a book by Chad Beguelin; and lyrics by Howard Ashman, Tim Rice, and Beguelin. The musical tells the story of Aladdin, a street-smart urchin whose life changes when he meets a magical genie who can grant him three wishes. His true wish, though, is the hand of Princess Jasmine.
Since Aladdin first opened on Broadway, the company has welcomed 17 Aladdins, 12 Jasmines, and 12 Genies, including understudies and standbys.

These galleries feature each of the actors who have played Aladdin, Jasmine, and the Genie on Broadway. For those for whom we couldn’t find a photo in costume, we’ve included a headshot or other photo.
A celebratory performance commemorating Aladdin's anniversary will be held March 28, when director-choreographer Casey Nicholaw will stage a slate of hidden Easter eggs and a surprise in the show’s signature production number, “Friend Like Me.”
And be sure to catch the many Aladdin alums in other shows on Broadway. This season, you can see original Aladdin, Adam Jacobs, in The Who's Tommy; original Jasmine, Courtney Reed, in Moulin Rouge! The Musical; and original Genie, James Monroe Iglehart in Spamalot.
