The upcoming all-Asian American revival of William Inge's Bus Stop has found its full cast, with performances set to begin May 8 ahead of a May 18 opening night. The limited run of the Classic Stage Company, NAATCO, and Transport Group co-production will continue through June 8 at CSC's Lynn F. Angelson Theater Off-Broadway.
The cast will feature Delphi Borich (Into the Woods) as Elma, Rajesh Bose (Life of Pi) as Dr. Lyman, Cindy Cheung (The Antiquities) as Grace, David Lee Huynh (The Trial of the Catonsville Nine) as Will, Dorcas Leung (Snow in Midsummer) as Cherie, Michael Hsu Rosen (The Sex Lives of College Girls) as Bo, David Shih (Gnit) as Carl, and Moses Villarama (Cambodian Rock Band) as Virgil. The work, which debuted on Broadway in 1955, centers on the happenings in a midwestern bus stop when stormy weather strands a bus full of eccentric passengers. Marilyn Monroe famously starred as Cherie in a 1956 film version.
Transport Group Artistic Director Jack Cummings III is at the helm for the new staging, which will feature scenic design by Peiyi Wong, costume design by Mariko Ohigashi, and lighting design by R. Lee Kennedy. Kevin Zhu will serve as production stage manager.
