Following successful engagements in London and Off-Broadway, Afterglow's limited run at the Los Angeles Hudson Theatre begins previews April 28. The show runs through June 19, with an opening set for May 5.
Written and directed by S. Asher Gelman, the work centers on gay, married couple Josh and Alex, who are in an open relationship and invite a third, Darius, to share their bed for a night. The dynamics of the relationship begin to shift as feelings arise, and each must examine his own definitions of love, intimacy, and commitment.
The cast features Noah Bridgestock as Josh, James Hayden Rodriguez as Alex, and Nathan Mohebbi as Darius.
The design team features the original Off-Broadway team of designers, including set design by Ann Beyersdorfer, lighting design by Jamie Roderick, costume design by Fabian Fidel Aguilar, and sound design by Alex Mackyol. The associate director is Robbie Simpson. Casting is by Kate Lumpkin.
In addition to the Los Angeles staging, Afterglow will open simultaneously in Madrid May 5. Additional productions in Ft. Lauderdale, San Juan, and Buenos Aires are planned for later this year.
The show first premiered Off-Broadway in June 2017 at the Davenport Theatre, where it ran for over a year. The Los Angeles production was originally scheduled for May 2020.
