Cast and creative team members from the Tony Award-winning Broadway revival of Oklahoma! will take part in a special evening celebrating the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical June 23 at the Jacob Burns Film Center in Pleasantville, New York.
Tony-winning producer Dori Berinstein (Show Business, The Prom, Legally Blonde) will moderate the 7:30 PM conversation, exploring the process of innovating and modernizing the musical across mediums. Berinstein will be joined by Patrick Vaill, who has played Jud Fry since the production’s 2015 premiere at Bard Summerscape, as well as lead dancer Gabrielle Hamilton, music director Nathan Kocci, and lead producer Eva Price.
Presented as part of the Jacob Burns Film Center’s Life on Stage series, the evening will include footage from the 1955 film as well as highlights from the current revival.
Helmed by Daniel Fish, the new production offers a stark and contemporary re-imagining of 1943 Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, featuring new arrangements and orchestrations by Daniel Kluger. The production opened April 7 at Circle in the Square where it has extended through January 2020.
In addition to Best Revival of a Musical, the production earned a Tony Award for Best Features Actress in a Musical, which went to Ali Stroker for her performance as Ado Annie.
Tickets are $10 for Jacob Burns Film Center members and $15 for nonmembers, and can be purchased by visiting BurnsFilmCenter.org.
