Video According to Kristin Chenoweth, Schmigadoon! Is Musical Theatre SNL

The Tony-winning Broadway favorite dropped by Late Nigh With Seth Meyers to talk starring on the musical Apple TV+ series.

Tony winner and Wicked O.G. Kristin Chenoweth stars in the second season of Apple TV+'s Schmigadoon as Miss Coldwell, a mixture of Annie's Miss Hannigan and Sweeney Todd's Mrs. Lovett. If that alone sounds to you like a musical theatre fever dream, Chenoweth agrees.

"It feels like our Saturday Night Live," she told Seth Meyers on an April 6 visit to Late Night. "It feels like a Christopher Guest thing that put us together. We're allowed to do our music theatre and sort of make fun of and love our milieu. It's the best job." Hear more about Chenoweth's experience making the show, plus an upcoming Carol Burnett birthday celebration special, in the video above.

The Broadway favorite also revealed that she had a celebrity roommate while filming the second season: SNL alum Cecily Strong, who stars as Melissa. Apparently, the two have bonded over Real Housewives content, on which Chenoweth has a lot of opinions. See which entries in the Bravo franchise gets the Tony winner talking below.

The second season of Schmigadoon!Schmicago, debuted on Apple TV+ with two episodes April 5. The show's first season was set in the realm of Golden Age musicals, following two modern-day New Yorkers as they stumble upon a Brigadoon-like fantasy world filled with singing carnival barkers, hard-edged teachers with hearts of gold, and so, so many townspeople. In season 2, our New Yorkers attempt to rekindle the past and find their way back to Schmigadoon, only to find themselves in a new, darker setting: Schmicago, a loving homage to the musicals of the '60s and '70s.

Featured in the cast are such stage favorites as Ariana DeBose, Chenoweth, Aaron Tveit, Jaime Camil, Martin Short, Dove Cameron, Alan Cumming, Ann Harada, and Jane Krakowski, all returning from the series' first season. Joining the group for the second outing are Broadway alum Tituss Burgess and Patrick Page. Cecily Strong and Keegan-Michael Key are also both back to lead the new episodes.
