Randy Johnson's jukebox biomusical A Night With Janis Joplin has joined the catalogue of Broadway Licensing. The musical, which played a Broadway run in 2013, is currently making its U.K. debut at the Peacock Theatre in London's West End with Mary Bridget Davies reprising her Broadway performance as rock icon Joplin alongside Sharon Sexton.

The work—which celebrates the life and music of Joplin along with her inspirations Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Odetta, Nina Simone, and Bessie Smith—is written by Johnson. The score includes a number of Joplin's most loved songs, including "Me and Bobby McGee," "Piece of My Heart," "Mercedes Benz," "Cry Baby," and "Summertime."

“In a real-life setting, being able to see Janis relate to an audience in a theatre is a wonderful experience for me," says Michael Joplin (Janis' brother) in a statement. "I know that Janis loved and craved having an audience. Having this unique and real experience, visiting with my sister again, makes me want to dance every night.”

The show joins a catalogue that also includes such titles as Ride the Cyclone, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, and The Cher Show. Broadway Licensing is an imprint of Broadway Licensing Global, which also controls Playscripts and Dramatists Play Service.
