Awards Marc Shaiman Will Receive Guild of Music Supervisors’ Icon Award The Mary Poppins Returns composer-lyricist is being honored for his achievements in film, television, and soundtracks.

The Guild of Music Supervisors will honor Mary Poppins Returns composer-lyricist Marc Shaiman with its Icon Award for his achievements in film, television, and soundtracks.

Shaiman is nominated for an Academy Award this season for his score for Mary Poppins Returns, which also received a Best Original Song nomination for “The Place Where Lost Things Go,” co-written with Tony winner Scott Wittman.

Shaiman’s film credits also include Sleepless In Seattle, The First Wives Club, Beaches, When Harry Met Sally, The American President, South Park-Bigger, Longer & Uncut, Beaches, and Sister Act, among others. Along with Wittman, he has also written the scores for Broadway’s Hairspray, Catch Me If You Can, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, as well as the NBC musical series Smash.

The Guild of Music Supervisors Awards will be presented February 13 in Los Angeles.
