By now it's well-known that Jim Parsons injured his foot during a performance of The Boys in the Band on Broadway. “There’s a sunken living room, and we went out for curtain call. We stand in this pose to bow, and I was in charge of taking this step to lead us. I stepped down and [clunk],” Parsons told Jimmy Fallon on his recent visit to The Tonigh Show.
Though the show canceled a single performance, Parsons soon returned to the show. “At first, I was using the boot and the cane, and then I got to just the boot. We’ve stored canes in strategic places across the theatre in case you like, ‘I feel unsteady,’ I can go to a closet and grab a cane, which wouldn’t be distracting at all.”
In Parsons’ honor, Fallon gifted him an engraved cane. “This is so moving!” exclaimed Parsons. Watch his reaction in the video above.
“And if you feel like a snack—” Fallon said.
“Shut your mouth! Oh my god,” Parsons said as Fallon poured Skittles out of the cane. “This is a Broadway miracle. Every actor should go with a cane in every part.”
