In celebration of the physical release of Freaky Friday’s studio cast album March 17, Playbill has an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the making of the recording. The album was recorded last year by several of the stars from the world-premiere production at Virginia's Signature Theatre and is now available in stores, online, and via digital download.
Watch the video for a sneak peek at the cast recording “Just One Day,” “No More Fear,” “After All of This and Everything,” “Not Myself Today,” “Go,” and “Oh, Biology” from the musical, as well as interviews with singer-songwriters Brian Yorkey and Tom Kitt and cast members Jason Gotay, Heidi Blickenstaff, and Emma Hunton.
Developed by Disney Theatrical Productions, Freaky Friday features a book by Bridget Carpenter (Friday Night Lights, Parenthood). The show debuted at the Signature Theatre last fall with Blickenstaff and Hunton starring as the mother and daughter who swap bodies for a day. It currently plays La Jolla Playhouse, where it will conclude its extended run March 19; it will then go on to Cleveland Play House (April 15–May 14) and Houston's Alley Theatre (June 2–July 2).
The album can be ordered on Amazon.com.
