Performances are now underway for 5th Avenue Theatre's The Hunchback of Notre Dame, starring Joshua Castille as Quasimodo. The Seattle production is directed by Glenn Casale and choreographed by Dana Solimando; watch highlights in the video above.

As previously reported, Castille, seen on Broadway as Ernst in the Deaf West production of Spring Awakening, uses American Sign Language throughout his performance, while E.J. Cardona performs Quasimodo’s “voice,” as well as one of the cathedral’s gargoyles.

The cast also includes Dan’yelle Williamson as Esmeralda, Allen Fitzpatrick as Dom Claude Frollo, Brandon O’Neill as Phoebus, and Dane Stokinger as Clopin.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame, based on the 1996 Disney animated film and the novel by Victor Hugo, features a book by Peter Parnell, music by Alan Menken, and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz. Performances began at 5th Avenue Theatre June 1 and are scheduled through June 24.

There will be eight ASL-interpreted performances, in addition to one open-captioned performance and one audio-described performance.

Tickets can be purchased at 5thAvenue.org, by phone at (206) 625-1900, or at the box office at 1308 5th Avenue in Downtown Seattle.
