Four cast members from the Broadway production of Jitney are set to return to the play August 7 to perform select readings and take part in an audience Q&A at the Queens Library. The acclaimed production, which wrapped up performances on Broadway March 12, was nominated for six Tony Awards and won the prize for Best Revival of a Play.

The four actors who will take part are Brandon J. Dirden, who played Booster; Jerome Preston Bates, who was the understudy for Becker; Brian D. Coats, who was the understudy for Fielding, Shealy, and Philmore; and Ray Anthony Thomas, who was the understudy for Doub and Turnbo.

The Queens Library is located at 89-11 Merrick Boulevard, and the event will take place from 6:30–8 PM. To purchase tickets, click here.

Set in the early 1970s, August Wilson’s Jitney follows a group of men who make a living driving unlicensed cabs or jitneys.

Jitney, the only work from the late two-time Pulitzer Prize winner’s American Century Cycle that was never previously seen on Broadway, began performances December 28, 2016, and officially opened January 19.

Directed by Ruben Santiago-Hudson, the cast also included Michael Potts, John Douglas Thompson, Harvy Blanks, Anthony Chisholm, André Holland, Carra Patterson, Keith Randolph Smith, and Ray Anthony Thomas.
