Job Details

DESCRIPTION

The Elif Playwriting & Acting Workshop is a 6-week intensive experience where students have the opportunity to write and act in original works—created and performed by students. This unique and creative playwriting and acting workshop for high schoolers follows the process of authentic original play development. Opportunities to create an artistic collaborative experience of this nature typically exists for theater-artists later in their careers. The Elif Workshop introduces students to the creative partnership between playwrights and actors early, challenging their beliefs of what theater is and can be. This is a tight-knit program, with an ensemble of 15 members: 3 instructors, 6 student playwrights, and 6 student actors.

The Workshop meets Wednesday nights and Saturday afternoons in October at the Center for Performance Research (CPR) in Williamsburg. The program culminates in a final festival of student one-acts, showcasing the playwright's collaborative writing process and the actors' technical growth and practice in the 6 weeks.

There is a tuition fee to attend the Workshop, as well as four tuition-free scholarship slots for students in need. To learn more, check out our site: theelif.org/workshop. Feel free to email us with any questions –
