Job Title: Stagehandler / Driver
Project: Touring Magic Production (Non-Union)
Tour Dates: October 2025 (3 Weeks)
Tour Locations: Midwest U.S., Northeast U.S., and Southeast U.S.
Employment Type: Contract / Freelance
Compensation: Competitive (ranging between $1000 and $1300 per week DOE) plus travel, lodging, and per diem.

Overview:
We are seeking a reliable and physically capable Stagehandler / Driver to support our non-union touring magic production for a 3-week run in October 2025. This position plays a key role in the transportation, setup, and breakdown of scenic elements, illusions, and stage props between multiple venues across the U.S.. The ideal candidate is punctual, organized, and has experience working behind the scenes in live entertainment environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive the production vehicle safely between tour stops (Midwest, Northeast U.S., and Southeast U.S.)
  • Load and unload all show-related equipment and stage materials at each venue
  • Build, assemble, and place stage props and scenic elements
  • Maintain a clean, organized backstage and storage environment
  • Work closely with the Technical Director and Show Director to ensure proper handling and placement of sensitive items (including illusions and custom props)
  • Perform maintenance or prop adjustments as needed during the tour
  • Conduct regular vehicle and equipment checks to ensure safe transport of assets
  • Follow safety protocols and venue-specific guidelines at all times

Qualifications:

  • Experience in stagehand or backstage crew roles for touring or live productions
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (required)
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs, climb stairs/ladders, and work in fast-paced environments
  • Strong work ethic, problem-solving skills, and ability to take direction
  • Comfortable with basic tools and prop handling
  • Must be punctual, handy, dependable, and able to work irregular hours (including late nights)

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in touring theater, concert, or event production environments
  • Carpentry skills or experience in basic scenic construction and repairs
  • Familiarity with live sound equipment or A/V cable management
  • Experience with illusion-based or specialty performance setups
  • Working knowledge of backstage safety practices
