Gelb Casting and Talent is excited to collaborate with Concrete Temple Theatre in NYC to cast the role of HAMLETTA in an upcoming developmental presentation of the play "HAMLET RIDE". This presentation will assist CTT and GCT in assessing the casting needs and style for a fully mounted production.
[PAID]. Our team is looking exclusively for a non-union performer, who is either Black, Indigenous or a Person of Color, as well as non-binary. Gelb Casting and Talent and Concrete Temple Theatre are offering this opportunity to performers who come from these groups ONLY.
HAMLETTA [to play 18-25]. A firm, grounded spirit, HAMLETTA must return to the community they have worked hard to disappear from to mourn the loss of their father. They deliver long portions of text in the play with ease - it comes easy to them, as they have been formulating their thoughts on the people, places and relationships that they have had to return to ever since they left. The right performer is excited at the prospect of discussing labels and parallels of the world's compartmentalization.
"Hamlet Ride is a rejection of identification and division and is inspired by Heiner Mueller's “Hamletmachine.” Like Hamletmachine, Hamlet Ride is a framing of Hamlet with the author’s “own experiences of capitalism, oppression and revolution.” Concrete Temple Theatre will present an in process showing of Hamlet Ride May 2021 at The Flea, premiering the work in 2022. Renee Philippi is author and along with Eric Nightengale will direct. Carlo Adinolfi is Scenographer."
