Seeking musical theatre trained male and female actor-singers for lead and other roles in an Indian musical to tour U.S and abroad (the show is an adaptation in English of the Indian epic tale "The Ramayana")
All ethnicities and backgrounds are welcome to apply. Performers of color are highly encouraged to apply.

Roles
Ram (male lead singer/actor): Prince of the Kingdom of Ayodhya
Age 18-40
This is the lead protagonist role as the beloved prince of Ayodhya (India) - Ram; tall build; needs to be a singer and actor. Stage combat and dance experience a plus.

Ravan (male lead actor): King of Lanka
Age 18 - 60
Looking for a compelling and versatile actor to play the mighty King Ravana. The antagonist who is also a hero; Actor; tall and muscular build. Deep voice, stage combat experience, singing and dancing skills are a plus.

Sita (female lead singer/actor): Princess of Ayodhya
Age 18-40
Female lead role. Mover. Stage combat, dancing experience are a plus but not necessary.

Surpanakha (female supporting singer/actor): Princess of Lanka
Age 18-50
Female supporting singing role. Mover. Stage combat, dancing experience are a plus but not necessary.

Opera singer: Soul of Sita (female supporting singer/actor):
Age 18-50
Female supporting singing role. Must be able to submit reel of Handel's "Lascia Ch'io Pianga"

Dancers (male)
Age 18-40
Trained in contemporary, Indian classical and/or folk, ballet

Martial arts / aerial / acrobat
Performers who are martial arts or aerial trained

Musicians: Percussions (various), Sitar, tabla, flute

Crew (various)
Looking for various positions - Production Manager, Stage Manager, Lighting/Sound/Set designers, Wardrobe assistant, Tech director

Show dates: October 20-29 (Oct 20-22 in Jersey City, Oct 25-29 in NYC)
Production dates: October 19-29

Casting diverse NY-area based performers (musical theatre actor-singers and dancers) and crew for "Ramaavan - A Musical." Surati's original stage production based on the Indian epic, "The Ramayana." Tours in US and abroad.

For consideration submit a headshot, bio, audition reel (dance, vocals, and acting), and note availability.

Note: In-person auditions are being held in Jersey City, NJ this week (Sep 19). Must be available for all performance days. Rehearsals off the PATH stop in Journal Sq. Jersey City during the day on weekdays with travel compensated. Weekends and weeknights may be included. Final run-through rehearsal week beginning Oct 16 in the Jersey City area, NJ, and additional shows and daytime school assembly performances possible. Must have some flexibility to move schedules around to adjust. Performers must be available from Sept. 25 for rehearsals and from Oct. 9-18 for final weeks. Seeking nonunion local talent in the NY metro area only.

Pay is for the 10 performance/production days with rehearsals paid for separately. Pays (for performers or performance weeks): $1000/series minimum or $100-$150/show day for singing or acting or dancing lead roles; $600/series minimum or $75-$100/show day for supporting roles, plus $10/hr. or lumsum rehearsal stipend paid for separately for each performer (commensurate with experience or role). PATH train to Jersey City rehearsal studios compensated separately for NYC actors.
Pay for any national or international opportunities involving travel to be negotiated separately.
