The Playwrights Realm, a not-for-profit theatre company devoted to supporting early-career playwrights along the journey of playwriting, seeks a part-time General Management Associate (GMA). The GMA supports The Playwrights Realm’s general and financial operations, and reports to the General Manager. The ideal start time for this position is mid November 2020.
The GMA will work 15-20 hours per week with some fluctuations around programming and the annual audit. Weekly schedule will be determined in conversation with the General Manager. The Playwrights Realm staff is currently working remotely, with optional access to the office space. The GMA may work remotely currently, but will be expected to return to the NYC office as needed when in-person work resumes (January 2021 or later).
The Realm staff works to embody the values of anti-racism, and the GMA will contribute to this goal through an awareness of their shared role as a gatekeeper, and by working to set up a safe space for artists and coworkers while still providing the room to challenge paradigms and have difficult conversations when needed.

Specific skills for this position can be taught, as long as the candidate has an affinity for systems and spreadsheets and demonstrates an advanced attention to detail.
Support the Realm’s day to day financial operations including, processing vendor payments, data entry in Quickbooks including basic expenses and bills, and prepping monthly account reconciliations.
With GM, maintaining the Realm’s internal financial reporting systems, collecting financial supporting documents/receipts, and maintaining financial files.
With GM, compile financial information for grant applications, the annual audit, and other external financial reporting.
Support the Realm’s day to day general operations including maintenance of shared files/resources, upkeep of company manuals, communication with vendors, etc.
Working with GM to provide support for current programming, including drafting contracts, providing rehearsal support, remote coverage of online offerings, and other process management tasks.
Working with GM to support budget tracking process and monthly updates with individual departments.
(on full staff return to office)Occasionally moving supplies, equipment, and furniture of up to 50 pounds throughout the office and to and from theater/rehearsal room.
The ideal candidate will have 0-2 years of relevant experience through jobs or internships, as well as…
-A strong sense of organization and attention to detail
-The ability to collaborate with people from a variety of cultural backgrounds, identities, and lived experiences
- A willingness to engage in the Realm’s anti-racism work and values
- Experience with, OR an enthusiasm for learning and using Excel and Quickbooks

Compensation for this position will be $18/hr. Part-time employees are eligible for paid sick days per New York State guidelines; this season through August, The Realm is also offering paid vacation for part time employees on days the office is closed for holidays.
