Position Summary

Seeking self directed and passionate individual to manage all fundraising and developmental activities. Must be experienced and passionate Arts leader. Works closely with the Executive Director and Producing Artistic Director in instituting long term planning, revenue-generating programs, legacy gifts, spear heading its annual individual giving drive, increasing the size of its donor base, and building relationships with potential corporate sponsors.

 You will also work with the Director of Marketing in the  implementation of organizational marketing campaign and for individual special projects. 

 

Development Responsibilities

Foundation/Government/Institutional Grant: Work collaboratively with the York’s Grant Writer to track grants and research new opportunities.  Manage institutional giving by overseeing relationships and proposals to foundation, government and corporate partners.

Individuals/Major Gifts: Spear head  campaigns from individual donors for annual gifts, major gifts, and planned giving.

Fundraising Events: Spear heads the fall and spring benefits, opening night events, as well as special VIP/member events and cultivation events throughout the season.

Donor Acknowledgement Letters: Organize and mail all donor acknowledgment letters. Maintain the letter templates to keep them current.

Campaign Promotional Materials: Work with the Director of Marketing to put together campaign and special event promotional materials (email blasts, post cards, invitations, etc.)

 

Qualifications:

  • B.A. and a minimum of two years of experience with increasing responsibility in development, preferably in a theater or other cultural organization
  • Enthusiasm for and knowledge of musical theatre
  • Excellent verbal, analytical and research skills. Ability to craft clear and compelling written proposals is essential
  • A proven ability to develop and manage creative fundraising strategies for the public and private sectors (individuals, foundations, government, and corporations.)
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills
  • Experience working closely with donors and volunteers
  • Proficiency with database management and ability to organize and analyze data towards implementation of strategic objectives.
  • Proven organizational skills including the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and produce high quality results
  • Demonstrated understanding of the best practices in fundraising and current philanthropic trends

The Development Director is a full-time position; salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.  This position is eligible for the company benefits package, including paid time off, medical, and dental plan.
