Heartbeat Opera is seeking a COMPANY MANAGER for an upcoming residency and workshop presentation


Our residency will take place from May 14-May 31st, 2021. More details about safety precautions, rules for participation, and project description, etc. are available upon request.

Please see attached one-sheet for a description of the project.


The Company Manager will be expected to begin work in early March 2021, to start planning and implementing the company details for the residency, as well as the safety protocols. Expected work in the time leading up to the residency is approximately 5 hours/week. The Company Manager will be expected to be in person and on call for the entire duration of the residency.

The responsibilities of the Company Manager include but are not limited to the following:

  • Ensure the overall well-being and care of the company.

  • Act as the liaison with Heartbeat Managing Director (who will be remote), the residency company, and the residency staff onsite.

  • In collaboration with the Managing Director, manage all housing, travel and reimbursement requests.

  • Serve as the COVID Safety Captain onsite at the residency, and work in conjunction with other Heartbeat staff to implement and ensure a COVID-safe and compliant workplace.

  • Act as the main contact for the company for first rehearsals, catering, artist needs, etc.

  • Work with the Managing Director to develop and stay within Company Management budget.

  • Collect artists’ grocery shopping lists and organize a number of grocery store trips.

  • Undertake planning a TBD number of catered company meals within the budget.

  • Work with residency staff to schedule and confirm regular cleanings onsite. 

  • Help Director coordinate company and producing needs, especially in the days leading up to the performances.

  • Attend weekly, virtual production meetings in March, April and May leading up to the residency, and tend to tasks assigned during the meetings in a timely manner.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Must have a valid Driver’s License. 

Fee for position is $3,000. Travel to/from and housing is provided for the residency.
