The Westside Theatre, a commercial Off-Broadway theatre in midtown Manhattan seeks a self-starter with a wide range of experience to assume responsibility for upkeep and maintenance of our facility, housing two theatre spaces (270- and 249-seats). The Westside Theatre is operating as a fully vaccinated workplace.

The building manager is responsible for the maintenance of the physical space, overseeing building systems, and representing the theatre with respect to production’s technical aspects. Candidates should have a general understanding of technical theatre, an attention to detail, a knowledge of basic maintenance tasks, and excellent communication skills. Ability to lift up to 50lbs and stay on one’s feet for extended periods of time required.

Responsibilities include:
-Maintaining building systems (HVAC, fire/sprinkler alarms, etc.)
-Managing regular service contracts and serving as on-site contact for maintenance appointments
-Performing light maintenance tasks (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting)
-Representing the theatre’s interests at all load-in, work calls, technical rehearsals, and load-out, for productions licensing our spaces
-Ensuring weekday building security, coordinating access with essential personnel
-Collaborating with WST staff on special projects and rentals
-Other tasks as assigned by Operations Manager or General Manager

Applicants should be self-motivated, have a keen attention to detail, and take ownership of the day-to-day upkeep of a historic theatre. Ability to communicate and work well with others is a necessity. Position is primarily daytime hours (Mon-Fri 10am-6pm). However, evenings and weekends are required during periods of load-in/out and tech. Upon hire, obtaining and holding NYFD F-03 and S-95 Certificates of Fitness is required.

Salary: $750/week (40 hours) + group health insurance, paid vacation, and other benefits
