TAMIKA (black woman): Queen. An elder - the eldest.
Life has served her punches from the beginning and, under Dinah's wing, she learned how to sing and fight back. Triumphant memories cloud her stormy present - still - with a full life behind her, and heaven in front of her, Tamika will not rest until she knows that Dinah's gospel is in good hands. Needs to be able to sing the blues.
GLADYS (black man / drag): Queen. An elder.
An entertainer who has performed alongside Nina Simone, Diana Ross and Ella Fitzgerald. When it comes to the spotlight, she's never afraid to steal it and always willing to share it. Ready to party, to erupt, instigate, cut up and fight - in an instant. A ferocious lover, she's fiercely protective of those in her circle. Her gold plated exterior masks a heart that breaks easily and nerves easily disrupted by injustice. Needs to be able to sing and move.
WILHELMINA (a black woman / trans / non-binary): A worker (20 - 30's)
Her meek and humble outward appearance is the result of years of servitude and of weathering storms. Inside her, though, is a strong elegant woman. Her superb dancing is only the tip of the iceberg in terms of her worth. If only she didn't have to serve the elders. If only she didn't have to train the new worker. If only she didn't have to stand all the time. If only the weather would break...she could finally breakthrough. Needs to be able to lip-sync.
LADY (black young man / fem? / drag): A worker - a great mess (20's)
How could a night start off so gloriously and end in a nightmare? Proud, ambitious and stylish on a budget - she will make sure you recognize her beauty - at all times. Cunning - because she's full of answers and denial - Lady knows how to weasel her way to the best side of the worst situations. But why can't she seem to catch a break now? Why does she have to work? Why isn't the president taking her calls? And what kind of brutish establishment doesn't serve Tea? Needs to be able to move - physical comedy - and lip-sync.
