DESCRIPTION
The Play Group Theatre (PGT) , a non-profit educational theatre located in White Plains, NY, seeks a part-time ATD/Production Manager to work as a member of a small creative team. PGT is seeking a creative thinker with strong communication and organizational skills, and a passion for arts education.
Requirements:
- Degree in technical theatre, or equivalent professional experience that demonstrates a facility with basic carpentry, theatrical lighting, audio, projection and effects, and the systems and tools that support these processes.
- Experience in a leadership position
- Cultural competence and the ability to interact effectively with people across different cultures, backgrounds, and identities.
- Prior experience in an educational setting is highly desirable.
- Exemplary communication skills
- The ability and desire to practice collaboration
- Strong organizational abilities, the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to work independently
Responsibilities Include:
- Work with TD on all technical aspects of productions, showcases, events, and rentals in the PGT facility
- Schedule and participate in scenic builds
- Schedule and participate in tech installations
- Ensure scenic and tech installations run on schedule, for the full season of productions in both the MainStage Theatre and our smaller Jonah Mac Theatre
- Work with TD to build and maintain roster of overhire technicians
- Schedule and manage overhire technicians for build, rental and event dates
- Act as liaison between creative staff and TD to ensure technical needs are met for MainStage productions, and that the production department is operating on schedule
- Schedule and participate in production meetings
- Send written updates between meetings
- Co-Teach Design/Tech program
- Work with TD to develop weekly curriculum
- Oversee students in shop and booth
- Provide tech week and performance weekend instruction and supervision
- Ensure safety of students in shop and booth at all times
- Work with TD, Director of Operations, and Building Manager to staff rental events in the facility, and to ensure technical needs of rental events are met.
- Work with Director of Operations to ensure all areas of the building remain clutter free, safe and professionally presentable to the public.
This position includes hands-on technical work, as well as supervisory administrative responsibilities. Candidates should be equally comfortable in the shop as in the office, and able to move easily from one to the other throughout the day. Candidates should enjoy being in a kid-centered environment, and all the noise that goes along with it! Evening and weekend hours are required.
SALARY
$35,000.00 – $45,000.00
per year
