DESCRIPTION

Shakespeare Theatre Company, located in Washington DC, is seeking Assistant Directors for two of our productions next season. The first is for our production of The Merry Wives of Windsor, directed by Taylor Reynolds; the dates of this commitment would be July 29 – October 6, 2025. The second is for our production of Othello, directed by Simon Godwin; the dates of this commitment would be April 6 – June 15, 2026. We are seeking Assistant Directors with their own local accommodation, and each will be paid a fee of $5,000.

This position will be a full-time commitment during rehearsals, shifting to part time after opening where Assistant Directors will be required to support understudy rehearsals and attend performances a few times each week. Candidates should have experience as an Assistant Director on at least two professional productions, a working knowledge of Shakespeare/classics, and excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
