The Arts Education Administrator is a growth opportunity for an early career arts administrator with a passion and drive to bring arts education experiences to young people. The Arts Education Administrator is a vital part of the small but mighty education department, largely under the supervision of the Education Operations Director. They provide “backstage” administrative support to directors in the education department, ensuring that all necessary systems and processes are in place. While not a glamorous role, job satisfaction will come from being a valued team member who through their efforts, ensures that children experience exceptional arts education.

Mentorship in arts administration is built into this role. The administrator will be involved in the planning and coordination of professional learning sessions for teaching artists and teachers, convenings and planning meetings with school partners, and will therefore have firsthand purview of program management and collaboration. The administrator will also have an opportunity to learn project management, by having a small project management workload in the first year on the job. Growth in project management load will be determined by departmental needs, funding levels and administrators’ growth in this area.


Administrative Support (70-85%)

· Directly support Education Department with administrative functions including but not limited to:

scheduling programs, creating contracts in Salesforce CRM, handling school purchase orders, artist contracts and billing, coordinating assessment distribution and intake, and assisting with monitoring programs in progress.

· Support fundraising efforts by providing program data and narrative reports as needed.

· Work with Director of the AIE and APLI programs to provide administrative support for statewide, multi-partner programs.

Project Management Mentorship (5-10%)

· With support and mentorship from experienced arts administrator, manage two long-term residency programs in NJ schools.

Contribute to YA Initiatives (10%)

· Contribute to Young Audiences’ ongoing efforts to improve in relation to diversity, equity, inclusion and access, according to YA’s Arts United Plan.

· Participate in organization-wide fundraising events and efforts.

· Other duties to contribute to YA’s organizational goals as assigned

Essential Qualifications:

  • Experience in an administrative role, in arts education and/or arts administration.
  • Proactive communication—both verbally and written—with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and communities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a hybrid work environment with colleagues and partners.

· Tenacious yet gracious work style; our school partners are busy, and our persistent and consistent efforts are keys to successful programs

· Strong organizational skills to track progress on multiple initiatives, provide timely follow up, and complete tasks in accordance with project timelines.

· All YA staff must have a belief in and commitment to anti-bias, anti-oppression, anti-racist practices in education.

· All YA staff must have an abiding belief in the value and necessity of the arts as an essential component of childrens’ education.

· Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Drive

· Ease and curiosity with learning new software applications

· Conversational Spanish is a plus.

Additional Information

· YA is a hybrid work environment. During initial 3 month provisional employment period, in office (Princeton) work is required several times a week.

· YA Office hours are 8:30-4:30, M-F.

· Visits to our in-school programs are essential and may occur several times a month. The ability to travel to schools and events within our service region of New Jersey and Eastern PA is required. Mileage is reimbursed.

This position requires significant computer usage for email communications, Zoom/Teams meetings, interoffice communications on Teams, and data entry. Compensation and Benefits

· YA offers a benefits package including: 401K with employer match, fully paid medical benefits for staff, 25% medical benefits paid for dependents, dental and vision benefits, paid time off, 10 paid holidays/year, and life insurance.
