SEEKING:

THE LAWYER: (OFFER OUT) Identifies as Female, 40s-50s. Direct, wry, and funny. Represents The Inmate who is sentenced to death.

AN OFFICIAL: (THIS ROLE IS CAST) Identifies as Male, 50s-60s. Smart, sharp, and condescending. Begins to question his once strongly held belief system.

AN ANALYST: (OFFER OUT) Identifies as Female and a person of color, 30s-40s. Supports the government; prizes money over humanity.

THE INMATE: (THIS ROLE IS CAST) Identifies as Female, 30s. After committing a horrendous crime, she is tortured and put in solitary confinement. As a result of being tortured, she speaks in riddles.

THE MACHINIST: (THIS ROLE IS CAST) Identifies as Male, 50s. Believes in and operates the machine that purports to offer “painless death”.

A GUARD: Identifies as Male, 20s-30s. Works for The Machinist. Works in the prison.

A GUARD/UNDERSTUDY: Identifies as Female, 20s-30s. Understudies THE INMATE.

UNDERSTUDY: Male, 30s-50s understudies AN OFFICIAL and THE MACHNIST.
