Delve into the technical study of inhabiting a real person's words and bringing that person to life with Mary Bacon and Mary Hodges in Acting in Documentary Performance.
Auditioning for Theater in an Online Platform - starts September 20!
Instructor: David Caparelliotis (Casting Director, Caparelliotis Casting)
Due to the current limitations on in-person gatherings, auditioning for theater has pivoted in recent months, with auditions now being either self-taped or live via a virtual platform. Guided by casting director David Caparelliotis, you'll have an honest discussion about what auditioning for theater in this current world means and explore techniques to create the best audition possible for both your self-taped and virtual in-person auditions. Over the course of 5 weeks, you’ll work on monologues of your choosing, as well as sides and cold readings, which will be a mixture of pieces David handpicks for you and/or material you are working on for upcoming or recent auditions.
Acting in Documentary Performance: Becoming Someone Else - starts September 24!
Instructors: Mary Bacon (Actor, Coal Country at The Public, The Tribute Artist and Little Women at Primary Stages) and Mary Hodges (Actor, Cassio in Hamlet and Ophelia in Othello at Harlem Shakespeare; Assistant Director, Slave Play on Broadway)
Documentary performance is a unique opportunity for an actor to develop and create characters from real people, using real text. This type of storytelling allows artists to amplify the voices of people whose stories might not otherwise be told and interrogate our assumptions in a way that is genuine to the experience of an individual or community. Led by the powerhouses, actor Mary Bacon and actor/director Mary Hodges, you will delve into the technical study of inhabiting a real person's words and bringing that person to life.
