Job Details

August 4, 2020 - October 1, 2020
Applications close on July 31, 2020 at 11:59pm EDT

Apply now for BMP: Producer Academy’s 8-week course, starting Tuesday, August 4 and running (except Labor Day week) through October 1.

We often talk about how we could fill a book with horror stories about producing where nothing seemed to go as planned. During these times, we always wished we had the guidance and mentorship of others in the industry to help us through those moments as emerging producers. This is why we created the BMP: Producer Academy.

Bring your idea from concept to a fully realized production. This is a unique experience to get an in-depth, hands-on, and personalized experience forming concrete skills to develop and produce new performance works, from having a great idea to opening night and touring. We’ll help you every step of the way to conceive and execute your own project.

Participants will meet weekly on Tuesdays with a 90-minute lecture 4:00-5:30pm EDT and on Thursdays for a 90-minute breakout discussion group between 3:00-6:00pm EDT.

This intimate cohort of participants will have direct interaction with faculty from Beth Morrison Projects’ staff and senior leadership: leaders Beth Morrison & Jecca Barry, Director of Production Brian Freeland, Consulting Producer Kim Whitener, Associate Producer Robert Smith, General Manager Ashley Peters, Marketing Associate Victoria Preis, plus guest Fundraising Professional Ann McLaughlin and Social Media Strategist Catherine Hancock.

Each week faculty will present templates, talk through examples, answer questions about participants’ personal producing projects, give guidance on crafting your own materials, and much more. Learn how to navigate the entire production process, including budgeting, fundraising, contracting, production management, marketing, and touring specifics.

Those who choose the enhanced tier of the course will receive one-on-one mentoring with Beth & Jecca, with feedback on their projects and pitch materials, and will interface in a “pitch session” with a panel of professional producers and presenters in the industry.
