Jesca Prudencio directs the new play, about two sisters reconciling their family's Cambodian heritage with their American present.

Steppenwolf Theatre in Chicago hosts the world premiere of Vichet Chum's Bald Sisters beginning December 1 in the Ensemble Theater. The run will continue through January 15, 2023.

The new play follows two sisters settling the affairs of their mom while reconciling their Cambodian heritage with their American present. Press notes describe the work as an "examination of the ties that bind multigenerational families of immigrants together: history, spirituality, and humor."

The cast includes Coburn Goss, Jennifer Lim, Nima Rakhshanifar, Wai Ching Ho, and Francesca Fernandez McKenzie.

Jesca Prudencio is at the helm, leading a creative team that also includes scenic designer Andrew Boyce, costume designer Izumi Inaba, lighting designer Stacey Derosier, sound designer and composer Pornchanok Kanchanabanca, and projection designer Mike Tutaj.

Steppenwolf's season will continue with Rajiv Joseph's Describe the Night March 2–April 9, Donnetta Lavinia Grays' Last Night and the Night Before April 6–May 14, Kate Arrington's Another Marriage June 15–July 23, and Harold Pinter's No Man's Land July 13–August 20.
