The final episode, taped in front of a live audience at the Masonic Hall in New York City, counted down from 100 novels. Series host Meredith Vieira was joined by cast and creative team members of the forthcoming Broadway adaptation—playwright Aaron Sorkin and actors Jeff Daniels (who will star as Atticus Finch), LaTanya Richardson Jackson, and Gbenga Akinnagbe—to celebrate the announcement and discuss the novel's lasting impact.

To Kill a Mockingbird will begin previews November 1 prior to an official opening December 13 at the Shubert Theatre.

Set in Alabama in 1934, Lee’s enduring story of racial injustice and childhood innocence centers on small-town lawyer Atticus Finch. The cast of characters includes Atticus’ daughter Scout (to be played by Celia Keenan-Bolger), her brother Jem (Will Pullen), their friend Dill (Gideon Glick), and their mysterious neighbor, the reclusive “Boo” Radley (Danny Wolohan). The other residents of Maycomb, Alabama, will be brought to life by Frederick Weller (as Bob Ewell), Stark Sands (as prosecutor Horace Gilmer), Dakin Matthews (playing Judge Taylor), and Erin Wilhelmi (as Mayella Ewell).

Directed by Bartlett Sher, the Broadway production will also feature scenic design by Miriam Buether, costume design by Ann Roth, lighting design by Jennifer Tipton, sound design by Scott Lehrer, and an original score by Adam Guettel. Producers are Scott Rudin, Barry Diller, Eli Bush, and Lincoln Center Theater.
