The Greatest Showman's Michael Gracey will direct the upcoming movie musical adaptation of Jessica Townsend's fantasy novel Nevermoor: The Trials of Morrigan Crow. As reported by Deadline, Paramount Pictures is set to distribute the flick with a screenplay by Drew Goddard.

The young adult novel tells the story of Morrigan Crow, a girl born on the unluckiest day of the year: Eventide. The curse states that Morrigan will die on her upcoming birthday, however she manages to escapes to a magical city called Nevermoor. In an attempt to outrun her tragic fate, she enters a series of dangerous trials to prove herself worthy of The Wundrous Society. Since being released in 2017, the book has spun off into a series with a fourth addition expected in October.

Best known for making his directorial debut in The Greatest Showman, Gracey has gone on to direct P!nk's documentary film Pink: All I Know So Far and serve as the executive producer for the Elton John biographical movie Rocketman. Goodard's writing credits include Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Good Place, and Bad Times at the El Royale which starred Tony winner Cynthia Erivo.

A movie adaptation of Nevermoor has been in talks since 2017 when Goddard was first associated with the project. At the time, 20th Century Fox was set to distribute after they preemptively acquired rights to the material, before the book was released.
