A new production of Richard Strauss and Hugo von Hofmannsthal’s Ariadne auf Naxos opened July 4 at the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence in France. Directed by Katie Mitchell, the opera continues at the Théâtre de l’Archevêché through July 16.

Lise Davidsen stars as Primadonna/Ariadne, with Eric Cutler as Der Tenor/Bacchus and Sabine Devieilhe as Zerbinetta. Marc Albrecht conducts the Orchestre de Paris.
