Sharon Stone, Stacy Keach and Jacob Young Set for NYC Reading of Popcorn | Playbill

News Sharon Stone, Stacy Keach and Jacob Young Set for NYC Reading of Popcorn Sharon Stone, Stacy Keach and Jacob Young will be part of an invitation-only reading of Ben Elton's Olivier Award-winning dark comedy Popcorn Oct. 6 at The Friars Club, New York City.

The reading will also feature the talents of Jim Borstelmann, Bryn Dowling and Angie Schworer. Mark Rozzano directs.

Show time is 7 PM.

Elton's cynical comedy satirically talks about the violence in films and its effect on people. A cinema director and his family are held hostage at gunpoint by two serial killers inspired by his films. As the play develops, some social questions arise regarding the violence seen on film and TV and its possible consequences with the audience.

Popcorn premiered at the Nottingham Playhouse in September 1996 and later transferred to the West End, where it won the 1998 Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Comedy.

The Telling Company (TTC), a new non-profit artistic production company, is producing. For more information visit www.thetellingcompany.org.
