Man Cave by John J. Caswell, Jr. is set to finally make its world premiere at Off-Broadway's Connelly Theatre after a pandemic-related hiatus. Focusing on Imaculada, a live-in housekeeper for a Republican Congressmen and her two friends, Man Cave follows four Mexican-American women who try to find safety despite supernatural and sociopolitical dangers. The horror satire will open March 1 and run through April 2.
Directed by Taylor Reynolds, currently represented with the Off-Broadway world premiere of Tambo & Bones at Playwrights Horizons, Man Cave will feature Socorro Santiago (The Bacchae) as Consuelo, Claudia Acosta (The Architecture of Becoming) as Lupita, Jacqueline Guillén (72 Miles to Go) as Rosemary, and Annie Henk (Bad Dates) as Imaculada.
The show began with a simple question for the playwright. "People look at the news and call it a horror show, and I thought, 'what if it was an actual horror show?'," shares Caswell, Jr.
The creative team includes set designer Adam Rigg, costume designer Hahnji Jang, lighting designer Lucrecia Briceno, sound designer Michael Costagliola, projections designer Greg Bellón, props designer Andrew Diaz, production stage manager Caskey Hunsader, and assistant stage manager Carolina Arboleda.
