International News Nikolai Foster-Directed Annie Will Embark on New U.K. Tour

The revival of the Martin Charnin-Charles Strouse musical played London's West End in 2017.

The 2017 West End revival production of Annie will embark on a new U.K. tour, beginning February 25, 2023, at the Leicester Curve Theatre. Casting will be announced in the coming weeks.

The revival is directed by Curve Artistic Director Nikolai Foster, with scenic and costume design by Colin Richmond, choreography by Nick Winston, lighting by Ben Cracknell, and sound design by Richard Brooker. Michael Harrison and David Ian are producing.

With music by Charles Strouse, lyrics by Martin Charnin, and a book by Thomas MeehanAnnie follows the titular orphan on a rags-to-riches journey after she's chosen to spend Christmas with famous NYC billionaire Oliver Warbucks. The work premiered on Broadway in 1977, becoming a near-instant hit, with a score including such favorites as "(It's the) Hard Knock Life," "Easy Street," and "Tomorrow." The musical has since been revived on Broadway in 1997 and 2012; received film adaptations in 1982, 1999, 2014, and 2021; and has toured the U.S. almost continuously since its premiere.
