On January 28, the United States Postal Service honored Broadway veteran and tap-dancing legend Gregory Hines with a forever stamp as part of its Black Heritage Series. Hines is the 42nd individual to receive a stamp in the series, which has included prolific historical figures such as Martin Luther King Jr., Langston Hughes, and Ella Fitzgerald.
To celebrate, we’re taking a look back through Hines’ stage career, which included shows like Comin’ Uptown, Eubie, and Jelly’s Last Jam, the latter of which earned him a Tony Award. Hines passed away in 2003.
