Billed as "timely and provocative," Promising presents a comic and shocking view of America's current political climate. The show officially opens Nov. 18 for a limited engagement through Dec. 5 at the Beckett Theatre on Theatre Row.

Helmed by Terry Berliner, the cast also features Zachary Clark (Macbeth at Classic Stage Company), Jolie Curtsinger (The Fall to Earth at 59E59 Theaters) and Kim Wong (Much Ado About Nothing at Barrington Stage Company).

Robard plays local politician David Carver, whose unprecedented rise in profile has caught the attention of heavyweight leaders in New York City and beyond. His career is suddenly threatened by a shocking accusation, catapulting him into the eye of a media storm. David is forced to strategize damage control if he wants to salvage his future. "What no one completely understands, until this day," state press notes, "is how the maelstrom on the outside affects even his most loyal allies within."

The design team includes James Fenton (set design), Paul Miller and Kirk Fitzgerald (lighting design), Teresa Snider-Stein (costume design) and Scott Stauffer (sound design). The casting director is Cindi Rush. Lisa Dozier King is general manager. The production stage manager is Jaime McWilliams.
