A stage adaptation Rear Window, the suspenseful story of a wheelchair-bound man who witnesses a murder from the confines of his Greenwich Village apartment, will be presented as the second show of the new season at Hartford Stage. Artistic director Darko Tresnjak will direct the adaptation, penned by Keith Reddin.

"I'm a big fan of both Cornell Woolrich's stories and Keith Reddin's plays. And I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work on this smart, terse, and timely adaptation of a classic suspense story," said Tresnjak, in a press statement. Tresnjak won the 2014 Tony Award as Best Direction of a Musical for his work on A Gentleman's Guide to Love & Murder.

Reddin's plays include Frame 312, Life and Limb, All the Rage and Rum and Coke.

Rear Window is part of Hartford Stage's newly announced 2015-16 season. The slate of productions also includes the Tony-nominated Having Our Say: the Delany Sisters' First 100 Years, Emily Mann's adaptation of the New York Times bestseller by Sarah L. and A. Elizabeth Delany with Amy Hill Hearth. Mann is a multi-award-winning playwright and artistic director at the McCarter Theatre.

Hartford Stage's first show of the season will be the world premiere of An Opening in Time by Christopher Shinn, to be directed by Oliver Butler. Rear Window will be followed by The Body of an American by Dan O'Brien, then Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet and Having Our Say.  Nominated for four Oscars, the Hitchcock film version of the story is ranked at number 42 on American Film Institute's "100 Years...100 Movies list" and was added to the United States National Film Registry.
