Performances began October 30 at The Public Theater for the New York premiere of Wild Goose Dreams, a new play with music by Hansol Jung, directed by Leigh Silverman. The show is playing in The Public’s Martinson Hall, where it will officially open November 14. The run has been extended through December 16.
In Wild Goose Dreams, two individuals are brought together over the Internet through a shared loneliness and longing to connect. Minsung, played by Peter Kim, is a “goose father,” a South Korean man whose wife and daughter have moved to America for a better life; online he meets Nanhee, played by Michelle Krusiec, a young defector forced to leave her family behind in North Korea.
Completing the cast are Dan Domingues (chorus), Lulu Fall (digital Nanhee/chorus), Kendyl Ito (Heejin/chorus), Francis Jue (father), Jaygee Macapugay (wife/chorus), Joél Pérez (digital Minsung/chorus), Jamar Williams (chorus), and Katrina Yaukey (chorus).
