With only two performances last week, Sea Wall/A Life made its presence known on the Great White Way. The double bill of monologue plays, performed by Tom Sturridge and Jake Gyllenhaal and written by Simon Stephens and Nick Payne, played to full capacity in the weekend ending July 28, grossing 102.87 percent of its potential.
The production is poised to break $1 million in a full week at the Hudson Theatre should it maintain these numbers.
As the two-hander heads to the board, another leaves: the Audra McDonald- and Michael Shannon-led Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune. The revival saw its highest-grossing week during its final set of performances.
Meanwhile, six other shows managed to surpass their full potentials: Wicked, To Kill a Mockingbird, Ain’t Too Proud, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Hadestown, and Dear Evan Hansen. Leading the pack, however, was usual suspect Hamilton, grossing $3,068,812.
