International News Frank Wildhorn's Kane and Abel Opens World Premiere in Tokyo

Daniel Goldstein is directing the new musical based on Jeffrey Archer's novel of the same name.

The world premiere of Frank Wildhorn's Kane and Abel officially opened at Tokyo's Tokyu Theatre Orb January 22. Based on the best-selling novel by Jeffrey Archer, the musical adaptation is directed by Daniel Goldstein, who also penned the book.

Performances will continue through February 16, with an engagement at Osaka's Shin-Kabuki-za Theatre to follow, running February 23-March 2.

The cast includes Kohei Matsushita as William Kane, Yuya Matsushita as Abel Rosnovski, Miyu Sakihi as Florentyna, Rina Chinen as Zaphia, Ayu Manaka as Kate Brooks, Kazuya Kamikawa as George Novak, Takuya Uehara as Matthew Lester, Masato Takeuchi as Richard Kane, Takuya Kon as Henry Osborne, Toru Masuoka as Alan Lloyd, and Yuichiro Yamaguchi as Davis LeRoy.

Kane and Abel follows William Lowell Kane, the son of a Boston millionarie, and Abel Rosnovski, a penniless Polish immigrant. The two men are born on the same day on opposite sides of the world and linked by an all-consuming hatred, with their paths destined to cross. 

Along with Goldstein's book, Kane and Abel features music by Wildhorn, lyrics by Nathan Tysen, choreography by Jennifer Weber, and arrangements and orchestrations by Jason Howland
