On March 7, Dear Evan Hansen will hold an open call in Chicago at the AEA Audition Center (557 W. Randolph Street) for actors 17 years and older to play the high school-aged principals in the Broadway, national touring, and Toronto productions of the Tony-winning Best Musical Dear Evan Hansen.

Producers and casting office Tara Rubin Casting are seeking actors for future replacements for the roles of Evan Hansen, Connor Murphy, Zoe Murphy, Jared Kleinman, and Alana Beck.

Sign in is scheduled for 9 AM-noon with auditions from 10 AM-5 PM. Those auditioning should prepare 16 bars of a pop/rock or contemporary musical theatre song. Bring a picture and résumé. An accompanist will be provided.

The hit musical, about an anxiety-ridden high schooler whose lie spins out of control and places him in the digital spotlight, opened in December 2016 at Broadway's Music Box Theatre. A national tour launched in September 2018, with the first international production slated to begin in March in Toronto. A novelization of the story was released in October.

Dear Evan Hansen earned six Tony Awards in 2017: Best Musical, Best Score for composers Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, Best Book for Steven Levenson, Best Orchestrations for Alex Lacamoire, and wins for original stars Ben Platt and Rachel Bay Jones.
