Following its world premiere as an Equity showcase production at the WPA Theatre, Alan Meken and Howard Ashman’s Little Shop of Horrors made its Off-Broadway debut at the Orpheum Theatre July 27, 1982. The musical played 2,209 performances before closing November 1, 1987.
Based on the 1960’s cult horror film, Little Shop of Horrors tells the story of what happens when a young flower shop keeper discovers and nourishes a mysterious Venus fly trap-like plant with a mind of its own.
