News Broadway Professionals Gather to Judge This Year's Davenport Songwriting Contest Broadway producer Ken Davenport and Davenport Theatrical will present the Second Annual Davenport Songwriting Contest, in which songwriters compete for the title of Best Song and a $500 grand prize, April 30 at the Davenport Theatre.

Hosted by Playbill.com features manager Michael Gioia, the contest will start at 7 PM and feature ten songs competing for the title.

The audience and a panel of industry guest judges will choose the winner. Joining Tony-winning producer Davenport (The Visit, It's Only A Play, Kinky Boots) at the judge's table are Abigail Katz (director of New Play Development at Atlantic Theater Company), Tony-nominated director and choreographer Dan Knechtges (Lysistrata Jones, Xanadu) and Ross Weiner (Theatrical Writer's department at Paradigm Talent Agency).

All finalists will receive a cash prize of $50.
